Women Who Ski

Who We Are

Women Who Ski is the name of the largest ski and snowboard group made up of all women. It exists as a group page on Facebook for female skiers and boarders to connect with one another, get advice on gear, ski clothing, travel, and events. It’s also a great place to share resources and find new ski buddies by connecting with other women on the slopes.

We are defined by our nurturing, light-giving spirit, where edifying and encouraging one another is the hallmark of our connections.

Some History

In 2015, Genevieve Schmitt, a lifelong skier who lives in Montana, created the group “Women Who Ski” on Facebook as a way to promote her K2 Ski ambassador activities with the side benefit of finding ski buddies near her home mountain, Big Sky Resort in Montana. At the time, nothing like this existed on Facebook.

For the first few years, the group grew slowly with approximately 2,000 members in 2017. However, during the covid years of 2020-2022 membership increased exponentially. By November 2022, we passed the 10,000 member mark; today we have more than 16,000 members.

To meet the demand for formalized activities for members, Genevieve created this website as a way to facilitate official group ski trips and other events. Genevieve (no longer working with K2) is a professional journalist and marketer best known for creating the largest and most prolific resource for female motorcyclists that contributed to the explosive growth of women riders over the last two decades.
