Our vision: to see female skiers et al. have a ski buddy for life thereby changing the heart of the winter outdoor sports community to pay it forward, sharing the love of skiing with others, so we never ski alone unless we want to. #neverskialone

Q. How can I meet up with other members of Women Who Ski to ski or ride with them?
A. Being in the Facebook group is the best way to meet and ski with other women on a daily basis. Using the Events tab at the top of the Facebook group page, members can create a “meet-up” post to help connect with women in a particular area to ski with. Additionally, becoming a paid member of Women Who Ski and joining one of our exclusive all-women trips is another way to meet other female enthusiasts, and quite possibly find a ski buddy for life.

Q. Is Women Who Ski a formalized ski club?
A. We are not a formalized ski club, but in June 2024, we are collecting membership fees to offset costs for administrating and facilitating our all-women ski and snowboard trips. Women Who Ski started as an affinity group page on Facebook in 2015. Due to its explosive growth of like-minded women, the founder of the group, Genevieve Schmitt, decided to create a website to support and facilitate group activities away from Facebook.

Q. Can I be a snowboarder and join the Women Who Ski group?
A. Yes, snowboarders are welcome as we know skiers often enjoy the snow with their snowboarder friends.

Q. Can I get a refund of my membership fee if I’m unable to attend your ski trips?
A. No refunds are given. You are buying access to our trips and the privilege of being one of the first to know when we announce them. Must like a traditional ski club, you pay a membership dues annually to have access to the group’s activities.

Q. Is Women Who Ski on any other social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Gab, or Truth Social?
A. At this time, it is not. The platform where Women Who Ski has a social media presence is Facebook. There are plans in the works to create group pages though on other platforms in the near future.

Q. What is the difference between Women Who Ski and a local ski club?
A. Before Facebook came into existence, formal ski clubs with membership rosters and dues existed in local communities as a way for like-minded people to get together as a group and take a ski vacation at reduced costs by securing group rates. Women Who Ski started as a Facebook affinity group, but as the group has grown so has the enthusiasm for women to meet other ladies to ski with through organized trips. To facilitate the trips and other events, it’s imperative the group creates a more formal structure away from the ever changing environment of a social media platform, hence the creation of this website and a membership model.

Q. Who is the team behind Women Who Ski?
A. Women Who Ski, the name and the concept, was created by Genevieve Schmitt, a lifelong skier based in Montana. Professionally, Genevieve is best known as a visionary in the women and motorcycling space for the last 25 years having created the online resource and brand, Women Riders Now, in the early 2000s that educated women and the motorcycling community about motorcycling from a female point of view. Genevieve has been skiing since she was 10 and learned while growing up in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. Genevieve now lives in Livingston, Montana, and calls Big Sky Resort her home mountain.

Q. How big is the Women Who Ski group and where do members live?
A. As of May 2024, the Facebook group has 15,000 members, by far the largest organized group of female skiers and snowboarders in existence, with women hailing from all over the world. During the summer months in the northern hemisphere, members enjoy seeing photos of ladies from places like Australia, New Zealand, Chile, even Africa who are enjoying their winter ski time in the southern hemisphere.

Q. Has Women Who Ski organized any official group trips yet?
A. In January 2023, Women Who Ski held its first Women Who Ski trip to Breckenridge, Colorado, partnering with a travel agent at Ski.com to offer discounted lodging and travel expenses. In 2024, we offered four ski trips with all selling out. Check out our News and Updates page for more details. And to be notified of future trips, sign up to be a member.
